Driver and rider services restarting in Leicester

The Government announced the lifting of local lockdown restrictions in Leicester from 3 August.

DVSA is reintroducing services in Leicester using a phased approach.

You can restart car, motorcycle and vocational training straight away if you have carried out the necessary risk assessments and are ready to do so safely. You can find out about COVID-19 risk assessments from the NASP website.

Testing will be introduced using a phased approach:

  • Theory tests: Monday 10 August 2020
  • Motorcycle tests (Mod 1 and 2): Monday 17 August 2020
  • Vocational tests: Monday 17 August 2020
  • Practical car tests: Monday 24 August 2020
  • ADI part 2 test: Monday 24 August 2020
  • ADI part 3 and standards checks: TBC

DVSA will start to invite candidates who have a practical car test on hold at the affected driving test centres in Leicester to choose a new test date. This will be done in the order that the tests were put on hold.

The general booking service will be opened once DVSA has invited all candidates across England on the backlog to choose a new test date.

ATBs will be able to book MMAs from 10 August. From 10 August trainers will be able to book dates from 15 and 16 August onwards.

Trainer bookers will be able to book tests via the Trainer Booking Service from Monday 10 August.
