Driving lessons and tests suspended in Wales

All areas of Wales are in alert level 4 and driving lessons and tests should not take place until restrictions are lifted.

From 20 December all areas of Wales were put into alert level 4. Driving lessons should not take place in Wales from 20 December until the restrictions are lifted. You should not travel out of Wales to give driving lessons or to take a pupil for a test.

The Welsh Government has also decided that all car driving tests and theory tests will be suspended in Wales from 20 December until the restrictions are lifted. This includes ADI part 2 and 3 tests and standards checks.

DVSA will email candidates who are affected by this to let them know their test will be rescheduled.

If you have booked a test for any of your pupils you will receive an email to let you know it will be rescheduled to a new time and date. You will need to contact your pupil to let them know.

You can read more about the measures on the Welsh Government’s website.

  1. So why are DVSA rescheduling practical driving tests for Monday 18th January 2021? This is the date given to one of my pupils that was due to take their test in Carmarthen today. Absolutely bonkers!!
