Driving test booking service reopens

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has reopened the booking service for new bookings.

The driving test booking service reopened to the general public at 8am today (Monday 7 September) for new bookings in England, Scotland and Wales. The service is only taking bookings for the next six weeks.

Candidates in Scotland will be able to book new tests from today for tests from 14 September 2020.

From Monday 14 September 2020, DVSA will extend the availability period of tests from six weeks to 18 weeks in advance.

This will add over 375,000 more new and rescheduled test appointments between 14 September 2020 and 21 January 2021.

As well as increasing the availability of tests to 18 weeks in advance, DVSA are increasing the number of tests each examiner carries out from five to six car tests a day. This will increase the number of testing slots available for candidates to book.

There is no ‘waiting list’ or ‘cancellation list’ for driving tests – you can only book the appointments you can see online.
