The driving test booking service reopened to the general public at 8am today for new bookings in England, Scotland and Wales.
The service will be available from 8am to midnight tonight. It will reopen at 8am tomorrow unless all tests sell out before midnight on Monday.
If you or your pupil do not manage to complete a booking before the service closes, your place in the queue can be held overnight as long as you joined before 11pm.
You will need to keep the browser open on the device you are using and return online by 8.10am tomorrow.
The service is taking bookings for the next 18 weeks, up to 21 January 2021.
DVSA is making 375,000 more new and rescheduled test appointments available between 14 September 2020 and 21 January 2021.
As well as making tests available to book 18 weeks ahead, DVSA has increased the number of car driving tests per day from five to six.
DVSA can safely increase the number of tests a day as driving examiners are:
- Now familiar with how to use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face coverings and gloves
- Following the latest safety guidance when carrying out tests
The service will show you available appointments at your other nearest driving test centres if your pupil’s preferred choice is fully booked.
All the available appointments are shown on the online service. The DVSA customer service centre does not have access to any other appointments, so please do not call them.
There is not a ‘waiting list’ or ‘cancellation list’ for driving tests – only the appointments shown online can be booked.
Before you or your pupil starts the booking you’ll be made aware that the booking is subject to confirmation that your pupil has:
- A valid theory test pass certificate
- The correct UK driving licence for the test you are booking
DVSA will check that your pupil has both of these before their test. If the test is booked at short notice (within a week of your booking), DVSA will check it as a priority before the day of your test.
If your pupil does not have both of these, DVSA will contact them before the date of the test to cancel it and offer a refund.
