From today (Friday 21 August), DVSA has reopened the online booking service for everyone. This means anyone will be able to book a driving test in England and Wales.
When your pupils arrange a test, they will be able to see available appointments within the next six weeks. DVSA is not taking bookings any further in advance at the moment so it can react quickly to any changes in government guidance about coronavirus.
Your pupils should check all their nearest test centres for availability if they cannot book a slot at their local test centre.
New test slots will be made available every week, on a rolling six-week basis, so you and your pupils should continue to check regularly for a test slot if you cannot find one immediately.

BEEN TRYING ALL DAY TO BOOK…..NO LUCK SO FAR…
Clearly this “re-launch ” has not been thought out well. The systems were supposed to be accessible at 08:00 but did not come online until 08:27 and within seconds it crashed. It’s now 16:30 and I’m still unable to access.
It should have been phased, giving ADIs the first chance to book for people who were learning to drive before lockdown.
The situation is ridiculous, if someone who was 17 a month ago is able to take a test before someone who has been hearing to drive since January, the system is quite clearly failing it’s customers.
It’s all very well opening up the booking system but I’ve still got 4 pupils that were invited to book their test who can’t get a test slot. They received the email invitation to book a test over three weeks ago!
It’s been another shambolic mess by the DVSA.

Not sure what the DVSA are playing at with my pupils. they had tests cancelled at the start of March and they still haven’t had an option to book a test at their preferred test centre. No availability whatsoever but they are offered tests at test centres 15 miles away or further 🤨
The system is either crashing or there is no availability for them which I thought they would be prioritised before people that were not affected early on and who are booking their tests prior to the people that were put on hold-absolutely disgusting!!!!!!
I think there’s going to be a lot of complaints submitted, sorry you can’t complain as they don’t want you to contact them 🤔
Another complete pathetic disaster from the DSA regarding booking. Those overseeing this total disaster should be dismissed.
Then almost as soon as it opened up, the whole system crashed making it impossible to view, book, change or even cancel a driving test.
