Learners are losing hundreds of pounds to TikTok scammers promising full UK licences without taking a test.
The fraudsters advertise “driving made easy” schemes and tell users to message them on WhatsApp, where they claim to handle everything for a fee of up to £800. Victims are told to send their provisional licence, while the scammers insist that someone “inside the DVLA” will make it all legitimate.
In reality, the documents are fake. A DVLA spokesperson said the agency has no links to any such accounts and warned that anyone applying for a licence through social media “will receive a counterfeit document.”
Some scammers also offer to remove penalty points or lift driving bans, charging hundreds for each service. A Daily Mail investigation found more than 20 TikTok accounts advertising these illegal offers.
Experts say frustration with the six-month driving test backlog is fuelling demand for shortcuts. Learners are also being targeted by unofficial test brokers who resell DVSA slots for inflated prices.
Aseem Munshi from financial firm Updraft said rising costs and delays are leaving learners vulnerable: “When people are stressed about waiting times or costs, they’re more likely to fall for fake solutions. The only legal way to get a licence is by passing your tests.”
For instructors, this scam is a timely reminder to warn pupils against online “shortcuts” and reinforce that only the DVSA issues valid driving licences.

The sooner TikTok is banned in the UK the better.
It is run by the CCP and is used to spy and also undermine our society. We need to mirror image the restrictions the CCP puts on the west. No repatriation of profits for a start. Limited access for Chinese software and serious tariffs for dumping goods.
