Proposed date to restart driving lessons in Wales is 12 April

Driving tests will restart in Wales on 22 April, as long as the public health position remains favourable.

DVSA has announced that restart dates for driver and rider services in Wales are the same as the indicative dates for England, as long as the public health position remains favourable.

This means the proposed date to restart car driving lessons in Wales is Monday 12 April 2021. Lorry and minibus lessons and tests will also restart on this date, as well as theory tests.

CBT, motorcycle lessons with instructors, bus driving lessons and tests and tractor tests will restart from 29 March.

DVSA said: “We know many of you want the opportunity to carry out lessons and training before we restart driving tests, and we agree with this. Therefore, car driving tests are due to restart 10 days later, on Thursday 22 April.

“In the meantime, your pupils can continue to practise driving with an accompanying driver from within their household on local journeys.

“We have shared our guidance for driving examiners with driver training associations and they have updated their good practice guidance for instructors. Links to good practice guidance are included in the instructor guidance on GOV.UK.”
