Scottish driving lesson restart date confirmed as 26 April

Driving tests in Scotland will restart on 6 May.

The Scottish Government has announced that from 26 April, all of Scotland will be placed in local protection Level 3. This means driving lessons can resume on 26 April and driving tests 10 days later on 6 May.

Theory tests will restart in Scotland on 26 April 2021. Fleet training and testing will also restart on 26 April.

DVSA will email candidates with car practical tests booked from the 6 May to let them know their tests will go ahead.

If you have booked a test for any of your pupils from this date, please can you reassure them that their tests will go ahead as planned.

Instructor testing, ADI part 2 and 3 tests and standards checks will restart from 6 May. If your part 2 or 3 test or standards check is on hold, DVSA will contact you to arrange a new time and date as soon possible.

In Scotland, by law, you and your pupils must wear a face covering during driving lessons unless you have a good reason not to. Your pupils need to let you know before their lesson if they cannot wear a face covering or you can be fined.

Your pupils must bring and wear a face covering for their practical test and theory test, unless they have a good reason not to. If they refuse to wear a face covering they will not be able to take their test. If they do have a good reason, they need to tell DVSA when they book their test.
